Sorry, but once again, I saw an AP story which was written improperly and must correct it before I can get it out of my head.
The story, found at Ravenwood’s is as follows:
House OKs taxes on oil companies
Declaring a new direction in energy policy, the House on Saturday approved $16 billion in taxes on oil companies, while providing billions of dollars in tax breaks and incentives for renewable energy and conservation efforts.
Alrighty, we’ll stop there. Otherwise, it’d be a full fisking and I don’t have time for that.
The correct story, if these AP reporters had taken something resembling an Econ 101 course that wasn’t taught by a socialist, would read as follows
House Democrats Push Tax On Lower and Middle Class
Declaring a new direction in energy policy, House Democrats decided that they still weren’t soaking the American Citizen for enough of their hard earned money and approved a $16 Billion tax increase, using the oil companies as a front. This will, of course, hit the middle and lower classes the hardest. At the same time, Democrats offered tax breaks to their hippie-dippy friends to help them make bio-fuels and erect windmills in their backyards, offering them some extra cash they can use to lobby their local and state governments to force the middle and lower class families to do the same.
OK, I feel better now.
