Fingers Firmly in Ears

And screaming “La-la-la-la-la” under their pillows.

A writer at the uber-leftist FireDogLakeBlog pounded ground to get California Democrat Jerry McNerney elected to the House of Representatives. McNerney ran on a “It’s a Civil War and yesterday isn’t soon enough to get the US out of Iraq” platform.

McNerney recently got back from an actual tour of Iraq and said that after what he saw during his time in the country, he is now willing to be ” a little more flexible about when the troops should be brought home.”

The blogger is currently accusing McNerney of reading “Republican talking points” and is nearing a bit of an emotional break down of sort over it.

It seems to me that as stakeholders in McNerney’s 2006 Congressional campaign, those of us who supported him with both our dollars and our boots on the ground are owed an explanation for his sudden decision to embrace the rhetoric of “progress” in Iraq and his new policy of accommodation.

Oh, I don’t know. Maybe now that he isn’t reading the CodePink literature every single morning and has actually seen what the American mission has done there, maybe he actually means it?

Nah! It’ll be duelling conspiracy theories at high noon over at FDL.
