Back to the Future

Quite literally.

Steven Wynne of Humble, TX is bringing the DeLorean back.

Though, while the 2.85 liter PRV (Peugeot-Renault-Volvo) engine was well designed, lightweight and reliable as the sunrise, it’s disgustingly puny 135HP was a big disappointment (a conversion for the GM 4.3L V6 is out there, but sets off the car’s excellent balance).

Good luck to Mr. Wynne.

Every DeLorean I ever heard of came with a Chevy 350 V-8! Was that merely an option?

Excellent idea, bringing the DeLorean back. And I’m betting that PRV engine could easily be modded with a nice turbo kit to boost the HP up.

Indeed, turbos are not exactly the heaviest things in the world… the only question is how much compression the engine can take above what it uses now.

Considering the shoddy paint on my new Mazda 3, there is something to be said for a car where you do not have to worry about that kind of thing. A shame the prices are absurd, though…
