More Ingrid

Six million Jews died in concentration camps, but six billion broiler chickens will die this year in slaughter houses.

Ingrid Newkirk – President of PETA in The Washington Post, Nov. 13, 1983

And from the “It Makes You Wonder” Department, Dan Riehl notes that Atlanta Falcons’ QB Michael Vick was indicted for running a training camp/pit fighting operation involving dogs this week.

It makes me wonder if we’ll be seeing ALF/ELF/PeTA protests at Falcons games this upcoming football season if Vick finds some magical way to get onto the field throughout the court proceedings.

Most likely not; firstly because those animal rights types will probably be afraid of getting their asses kicked by the plethora of fans that attend the games (unless it is an away game, then they’ll possibly grown the balls to get out there with their signs and chants).

Riehl thinks the reason you never see PeTA protest things like this is because the animal rights folks feel sorry for the “urban/lower-middle-class” folks and let them slide on things like this, after all, PeTA kills animals too. Not that Vick is “lower-middle-class”. I think that is Riehl’s euphamism for “African American”, itself a euphamism.

Myself, I don’t know. Maybe I should call them?

  1. Chris says:

Pit Bull (and Cock) fighting is different than euthanasing an animal that is ill. You’re more likely to see the Humane Society get involved via a court case on this than protesters at a football game.

I couldn’t understand from your post if you were poking fun at PETA for being radical or if you thought that Pit Bull fighting wasn’t something that should be against the law.
