Not “Fakin’ the Funk” Any Longer

Venezuelan dictator/asshole, Hugo Chavez, is always whining about how “America is trying to kill him”, yada, yada, yada.

It seems as though he is trying to up the ante on us.

President Hugo Chavez urged soldiers on Sunday to prepare for a guerrilla-style war against the United States, saying that Washington is using psychological and economic warfare as part of an unconventional campaign aimed at derailing his government.

Dressed in olive green fatigues and a red beret, Chavez spoke inside Tiuna Fort — Venezuela’s military nerve-center — before hundreds of uniformed soldiers standing alongside armored vehicles and tanks decorated with banners reading: “Fatherland, Socialism, or Death! We will triumph!”

If by “triumph” he means that socialism will end in his country when he dies a violent death, he may actually be right for once.

Cap’n Ed lists the multitude of reasons why the US would find it to our disadvantage to invade Venezuela, despite Chavez’s insistance the we will be doign so at any moment. He holds aside though, that we may have to do something after a Hugo-inspired attack on the US if the guy doesn’t knock this shit off, and reminds us that this nutjob has attack submarines.

Um, Iran and Iraq also have attack subs, and let me tell you they are useless. Their patrol consists of going out and submerging to the bottom and sitting there for a while and coming back up saying what a good job they did.

Sorry to say, life is not like Hunt for Red October (although a good book)or worse yet Crimson Tide (where the hell was the EPM and what is a bilge bay door) But for acquisition and targeting of hostiles, you cannot beat the good ole USN. Plus the part of coming up for air every 24 hours defeats the silent part of the sub service. Go Nuke! Portsmouth Power and Light SSN 707 (alas now razor blades).

I’m still pissed at Chavez for buying up all the milsurp 7.62 NATO on the market last year….

Why invade? Wouldn’t a low-yield airburst neutron bomb over the capital work?
