New Member of the Family

While I was away in Idaho, The Wife found something she couldn’t live without.

I called her the day before heading home and was told that she found a car for a good price that I needed to look at when I got home. Apparently, I am not the only one who is allowed a project vehicle.

It’s a 1963 Galaxie 500 Country Sedan 9 Passenger Station Wagon

It may not look like much, but the drivetrain is strong and nearly new. The previous owner dropped in a built 390ci mill backed by a C6 w/Overdrive. I would have no qualms with the wife heading out to Spokane in this big beastie, other than the $3.40 per gallon gas would probably put us in debt at 10mpg.

No name as of yet (the wife is horrible at that), but just know that when she gets done with this car (interior and paint prep) she’ll know her way around the orbital sander.

So that will give you TWO 390’s to play with???
The wagon would make a pretty good sleeper, huh?

Aha, 1963, will survive EMP in large doses. Aha, 390/C-6 chassis, will pull a SERIOUS trailer (and as a ’63, you can put 4’X8′ loads in it and still close the tailgate).

My vote on a name: “Mom’s Battle-wagon”, or, to use the class system designed by the Navy, it would be a “BBM”

Maybe you can get vanity plate “BBM-63” or, “MOMBBM”

As I recall, that wagon has some curved glass in back. Those will be REAL hard to find, so if you do, scarf them up. If it has an electric tailgate glass, be prepared to spend long hours working with the system, or better yet, swap it out of a tailgate with a manually-cranked glass.
