In Memorium: The Booty Eulogies

This is what I hope will be a decently long line of posts dedicated to the memory of John Thomas Booty from some of the women who have known him. When the pool runs dry, I will make sure to put my own in here, though without a picture. For which I’m sure you all will be thankful.

And now, to our first

——————–

When I first met John Thomas, it was after an inattentive so-and-so made too wide a turn while backing out of their parking space and nosed into his car.

He drove it to my collision repair center to get an estimate, and he dealt with one of my assistants. His insurance company agreed to the repairs and the price and my assistant called him up a rental to take home. That evening, as I was closing up the computer system, I saw his name on the invoice and wanted to make sure that this job was done perfectly. Three days later I personally called him to let him know his car was ready and made his appointment to inspect it and take it home.

When John arrived, I greeted him and led him out to his car. As we were approaching it, he said that the curvature line was perfect, and I replied that he must have a very keen eye as we were still 20 feet away. He replied that he wasn’t talking about the car.

I spent the next week with John in Florida while he was doing research on the North Beach. I will always remember his gentlemanly wit, his kind words and his strong hands. He wasn’t a man to be molded, he liked to be the one doing the molding.

I will miss him, Cassandra.

He will be missed but has left behind some fine tails of inspiration.
