But does Andrew Sullivan smoke it too these days?
If gun rights are civil rights, why would anyone feel the need to hide the fact that they own one?
Forget that it is a wholly ignorant statement. If I do that, I can think of a couple reasons why the owner of firearms would want to keep said fact of ownership a secret: Thieving neighborhood kids, Gun Bigot employers and Government confiscation plans.
Each of those applies to the issue Sully is speaking of: The publication of a list of CCW holders in Tennessee by The Tennessean.
I wonder if He of the Eternal Bleeding Heart would mind registering as a homosexual and then having his name and address published by a large metro newspaper? I mean, if being gay is a civil right, why would he want to hide it?
Muslims are just practicing their freedom of religion, maybe we could register worshippers?
But law-abiding gun-owners obviously have nothing to fear about having the fact that they are gun-owners published for the world to see, would they? I mean, if they have something to hide, then they are obviously doing something wrong, right?
….
[/sarcasm]
I honestly have no idea how Andrew Sullivan has the readerbase he does… One born every minute, I suppose.
