Short Attention Span Theater

I have said it over and over again: “The folks on the left read the headlines and the first two paragraphs of a story, and that is all.”

Which is why the MSM fits them so perfectly; because the MSM can write all the bad stuff it wants and place it in the first couple paragraphs of a story, and then write all the actual facts in the lower half of the body of the story, where no one will read it. Then, when they remember reading the story, all the average person remembers is the headline and the little bit of it they read.

For instance:

On Monday, this story from E&P was atop 75% of the left wing blogs

Pew Survey Finds Most Knowledgeable Americans Watch ‘Daily Show’ and ‘Colbert’

A new survey of 1,502 adults released Sunday by Pew Research Center for the People & the Press found that despite the mass appeal of the Internet and cable news since a previous poll in 1989, Americans’ knowledge of national affairs has slipped a little. For example, only 69% know that Dick Cheney is vice president, while 74% could identify Dan Quayle in that post in 1989.

Other details are equally eye-opening. Pew judged the levels of knowledgeability (correct answers) among those surveyed and found that those who scored the highest were regular watchers of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show and Colbert Report. They tied with regular readers of major newspapers in the top spot — with 54% of them getting 2 out of 3 questions correct. Watchers of the Lehrer News Hour on PBS followed just behind.

Virtually bringing up the rear were regular watchers of Fox News. Only 1 in 3 could answer 2 out of 3 questions correctly. Fox topped only network morning show viewers.

Now, of course because The Daily Show and Colbert are decidedly left leaning shows and Fox is considered “The Right Wing Noise Machine” in the leftosphere, it was implied by the leftist blogs that Republicans are stupid. I think I even remember at least a couple saying that if this is why people voted for Bush, then maybe they could start to forgive some of them.

Forgive me? Asphincter sez what?

Anyway, if they would have read to the end of the artilce, only a couple more paragraphs further to go, they would have seen this line:

Men scored higher than women, and older Americans did better than younger, on average. Democrats and Republicans were about equally represented in the most knowledgeable group but there were more Democrats in the least aware group.

So now we have three choices to choose from

1. A large number of Dems are watching Fox.

2. A large number of Repubs are watching Comedy Central.

3. This survey full is of shit.

No matter which answer you choose, it just goes to prove that leftists cannot read.

It is because those of the Leftosphere (which isn’t a sphere it’s more like a donut – yum!) don’t need or operate on facts, they are emotionalists – so a few buzzwords will set them off and running hither and yon, and the Media knows that and keeps them running in circles.

    I’m gonna go with #3.
