Being a conformist pays off in Washington: Part 2

Back at the end of March I posted about how Washington State employees who are non-members of the Washington Federation of State Employees Union would be getting their pay raises two months later than members would.

If that sounds weird, here’s the skinny: If you are a state employee, but do not want to join the WFSEU, you don’t have to; but you still have to give them dues money to keep your job.

Yeah, sweet gig for the union, right? You have to pay them in order to have your job.

Oh yeah, and splitting that pay increase between union and non-union members cost the citizens of Washington a smooth $8 Million to implement.

Yeah, sucks to be me.

So anyway, now the union members are going to get a “refund” of $756 for overpayment of health care premiums. Which would be fair, except for the fact that non-union members aren’t getting one cent back, while union members who opted out of the healthcare plan, and therefor didn’t pay into it, are still going to get the $756 check.

It’s like the state is giving a big pressed ham to the non-union members at every possible instance. It’s like they’re trying to piss them off so badly that they’ll join the union for the free money.

Which is bad enough in itself, but this is my money they’re talking about here. If the people didn’t overpay, then they shouldn’t get any “overpayment” money.

But you know, if they hadn’t let the union demand payment from the non-members, I probably wouldn’t be so pissed off.

Where else do you have to pay an extortion fee to work?

Fucking socialists.

That’s “Progressivism” for you!
