Show and Tell

Long about the day after Christmas, I added up my loot (cash and gift cards) and ventured on down to Ye Olde Electronics Store (aka: Best Buy) and got me one of these.

After taking far too long to figure out how to make the accompanying software convert the .MOD files it records in to MPEG-2 files, I started looking for something to film.

Lo and behold, it was breakfast time for our turtle, Polly.

If you’ve never seen a foot long turtle eat, here is your chance.

You can watch it in widescreen here

My apologies ahead of time for the camera going in and out of focus a couple of times. I had both the autofocus on and the TV on in the background. When the reflection hits the glass of the turtle tank, the camera tries to focus on it instead of Polly. I will remember that in the future.

The dogs are already jealous of Polly’s time in front of the camera. But I told them that they had to learn to do something entertaining before I’d film them.

Speaking of something entertaining, Mr. C, if you could visit my email with a pin shoot schedule at your next convenient moment?

  1. I haven’t got a cut-and-pasteable schedule yet, but will get it posted soon, and will let you know as soon as it’s up. In addition to pins, we will be having a full schedule of Steel Challenge matches, rimfire hanging plates, and head-to-head rimfire falling plates. We are also considering a “Major Caliber Revolver” pin class for wheel guns .430 and above. Thunder on the pin range, EH!

    ……. Mr. C.

Sweet Mary and mojo, I have never seen a turtel eat before. I took at least what 1/4 of the fish in its mouth at a time. I would hate for that to be your finger.

  3. The Mom says:

Polly must’ve known he was being filmed – he’s rather neat and tidy with this meal. Good turtle man ……

  4. Rivrdog says:

I wouldn’t advertise the big-bore match while the cowboy shooters are sitting at home wondering what to do….you might have a line of embarassed Hogleg handlers when some cowboy shows up with a .45 Uberti and fans the pins away in two flat…
