Quiz Time!

I am:

Ayn Rand (Alissa Rosenbaum)

This charismatic cult leader occasionally used science fiction as one of her recruiting tools for new converts.

Which science fiction writer are you?

I don’t really like the tone with this answer, but if you take a looksee through the rest of the possibilities, there are quite a few with which the quiz author doesn’t seem to terribly fond of.

On another note, while I can read her treatises all day long, I can’t stand her fiction. So while this answer does make sense, it doesn’t make me want to read those tales any more than I did before.

Hmmpf. I was hoping for Heinlein, but I’m E.E. “Doc” Smith. I have quite a few of the Lensman series in the original paperbacks (the original owner donated ’em to me) but haven’t read ’em yet. Guess I’ll put ’em on the list of stuff to read this year.

    Gee, I thought Rand’s fiction all read like treatises anyway. < > < >

Actually, I enjoyed the Fountainhead. Haven’t tackled Atlas Shrugged yet. Probably will before they make the movie, we’ll see.

  2. Ralph C Whaley MD says:

A cult is group of individuals who live by emotions blindly following a powerlusting leader. Ayn Rand lived by reason and reality and defended the right of the individual to his own life and the requirement of the mind to be free of the initiqation of force. Her view is that of a benevolent, brilliant philosopher who viewed man as an heroic being capable and worthy of living with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life. To describe those who embrace her philosophy as members of a cult is offensive and wrong.
