They’re a demanding group, aren’t they?

VP Cheney is the current occupant of a rather nice office in the building that houses the offices of members of the House of Representatives. Apparently, it is usually a perk given to the chair of the House Ways & Means committee.

As we all know, in January the Dems will be taking over the committee appointments and Charles Rangle (D-NY) will most likely be taking of the chair of the Way’s & Means committee to become the one man who can singlehandedly wreck the entire US economy.

And he wants the offices.

He has no claim other than tradition, and Cheney has made no statement as to whether he will accede to Rangle’s demands, but I seriously doubt it.

Of course, the leftists think Rangle has every right to the claim and want any Democrat who agrees with Cheney to figuratively be fed to the lions.

Speaking of Rangle, if you stopped by Michelle Malkin’s place yesterday, you saw Rangle go knee-deep with foot-in-mouth disease and confirm the worst fears of gunbloggers everywhere.

“It’s not just committees — our influence within the House Democratic caucus will grow enormously,” Mr. Rangel said in an interview.

To that end, he sketched out an expansive federal agenda: Teaming up with Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg on gun control, passing new tax incentives for urban job programs, and redirecting federal money to New York in return for the outsize tax collections that the federal government makes here.

“Mississippi gets more than their fair share back in federal money, but who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?” Mr. Rangel said.

To which Rep. Chip Pickering (R) follows by putting his foot right up Rangle’s ass

Last year, Hurricane Katrina devastated the Mississippi Coast. We have been working hard not only to rebuild our own homes and communities, but also to repair and protect the network of refineries, pipelines, and transmission grids that supply energy, gas, and oil to the rest of the country, including New York. If Mr. Rangel believes those efforts required more than our fair share of federal money, he is welcome to send that energy back to our state and find an alternative supply.

Rangel’s a fucking Marxist, and that’s the nicest thing I can think of right now to say about him. Some other things came to mind, but so did the laws on Hate Speech, if you get the drift.

Rangel may be the first test of just how “centrist” the Democratic Party is, or intends to be. If they really are “centrist”, they’re going to have to step on Rangel hard and quickly.

If Madam Pelosi is serious about this “centrist” image, she will pick up a phone and call Rangel and tell him that his job as Chairman of Ways and Means is on the line, and he’d better toes that line.

I’m not holding my breath, that she will, though.
