Lovelock is basically stating that it is too late for the planet earth and the human race that lives upon it. By his calculations, if we would just stop doing everything we do on a daily basis right now, today, about pne-third of the earths population would be able to survive the next couple hundred years.
I agree with him, though not for the same reasons. If we stop doing everything we do now, I agree that aroudn two-tirds of the earth’s population would die from disease and starvation in just a couple decades. How much do you want to bet that Lovelock considers himself worthy of saving?
