After Pelosi’s lap dog of a male specimen, John “Total Crap” Murtha, was trounced in the voting for House Majority Leader, the looney left are not only refusing to lick their wounds, but are actively trying to ignore them.
It bodes well for Pelosi that was willing to spend her political capital right off the bat — especially on the issue that will define her time at the helm. Far too many modern politicians save their political capital until it’s lost all its value.
Yes, and lets hope that she has none of said capital left when Rangel gets ready to push his gun control agenda.
But the win-win nature of Pelosi’s intervention in the leadership race isn’t just limited to sending a message to Steny Hoyer. She has also won today because she has sent a message to the entire Democratic Caucus by letting every Member know that there will be unpleasant consequences to Hoyer-esque Democratic disloyalty. Though Hoyer won the election, you can bet he didn’t enjoy having a spirited opponent. Every single member of the Democratic Caucus now knows that when they behave the way Hoyer behaved in the past, they may face similar pain.
So, I guess the message that Pelosi sent to the entire caucus is that she’s one of those “Payback is a bitch” bitches, then?
If not, then I guess I don’t understand Democrat politics. I would see having the guy whom I endorsed getting his ass trounced by a majority of nearly two-thirds as a rebuke of my agenda.
But then again, I’m sane.
FYI, I was half-heartedly rooting for Murtha. His pro-corruption attitude and lack of photogenics would have made the Repubs look absolutely stellar.
I was half-heartedly rooting for Murtha too, because the exposure he would have gotten would have doomed him. He’s not quite as bad as John F***ing Kerry at putting his foot in his mouth, but, given enough opportunities like the Majority Leader job would have given him, the foot would have inevitably wound up there.
Also, for some reason, the NRA rated him as an “A”.
BTW, either Fox News or the ASSpress (don’t bemember which) yesterday specifically said that this was a “lose-lose” for Pelosi, not a “win-win”, so David Sirota is full of bull.
