Lee Camp, a Lipscombe University theologian, has a plan for world peace with militant Islam:
Give up your beliefs if they offend Muslims.
“We need to forsake the Christendom model,” Camp said. “The most basic Christian commitment … is that we say we believe in the Lordship of Jesus. But, if we claim that, how can a Muslim or Jew trust us, if we say Jesus is the Lord of all Lords?”
Once again, I am not what anyone in their right mind would consider a Christian. I have no animosity towards anyone of any religion or any lack of a religion. I could really care less what you believe, so long as you don’t want to involve me in any part of it (this includes knocking on my door at 0800 on a Saturday and/or cutting my head off).
But I can find absolutely no respect for anyone who espouses that they believe in something and then gives up part of their belief structure to satisfy someone else’s fanaticism.
In my little universe, part of the meaning of life is to learn from others and be tolerant of their beliefs, so long as said beliefs don’t bring harm your way. If the beliefs of others bring them to try and cause you harm, you do what you have to to stop them from being able to believe in anything other than that death is a quiet place. Otherwise you’ll be the one finding out just how quiet being dead is.
What this jackass is proposing is analogous to willingly giving up semi-automatic rifles with pistol grips and muzzle brakes because some people find them scary, and then calling yourself a proponent of firearms ownership rights.
I’m looking at you, NRA.
Neither stance is realistic, sane or moral.

So if their beliefs offend me, do they have to give them up? I’m offended by the veiling & burqa-ing of women, as well as prohibitions on alcohol and honey-baked ham, APPEASE ME, DAMMIT!!!!
