Police Looking For Stolen Nuclear Device
My first thought was ‘Oh Shiznit!’. Because I was at work.
Then I clicked on the story and this is what popped up
Police in Renton are looking for a nuclear device that was inside a car that was stolen last month.
The device is inside a large yellow box with warning stickers on the outside.
Â
The device looks like a scale. It’s 18 inches tall and is used to measure ground moisture.
The vehicle used to transport the device was found on July 21, but the device was not inside.
The device contains a small amount of radioactive material that isn’t even dangerous enough to harm the people who work with the instrument eight hours a day, five days a week, yet because of someone wanting to frighten the locals, it gets called an accurate but wholly frivolous “Nuclear Device”.
Someone at the TV station’s website was feeling like ‘Mama-Drama’ and decided to give folks a fright.
Thanks guys.
I bought a ’50s era one of those for $10 at an estate sale several years ago.
I don’t have it any more, but it seemed cool at the time…
Too bad they did not report on the Americium that is in all of your smoke detectors and how that is going to make you die a horrible death. Sorry, I could go on about the lack of knowlage on radioactive and nuclear materials and their effects, and the irrationallity of the press, but what good whould that do?
Meh, it’s just Renton. I hated that place.
