This black-and-white image captured on Aug. 23, 1966, by Boeing’s Lunar Orbiter I is the first photo ever taken of Earth from deep space. The photo was assembled from 60 different strips of 35-mm film as the unmanned orbiter transmitted it back to Earth.

    It sure wasn’t today’s Democrats which helped this picture come into existence. Nor was it terrorists from the “Religion of Peace” either. Nope, twas’ the military-industrial complex and Big Business. And 40 years later, it’s still a beautiful picture.
