It took just over a week, but it seems that those ungrateful UW snot-suckers who ‘Didn’t think ant a Marine was the type of person that the University of Washington should try and produce’ that I wrote about on Monday have come forward and apologized.

Well, kind of. Not in this account from the Seattle PI.

But you might want to take a read of this.

WHEREAS Student Senator Jill Edwards offended all members of the United States Marine Corps, past or present, dead or alive; especially those who were, are, or will be students at the University of Washington with her comment that she “didn’t believe a member of the Marine Corps was an example of the sort of person UW wanted to produce.” This commented brought shame and dishonor to not only the UW Student Senate, but also the University as a whole, all its members who have served in the Marine Corps and all Marines past and present.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON:

THAT

Student Senator Jill Edwards will submit, in writing, a signed apology letter seeking forgiveness to all students, staff, and alumni who are now or ever have served in the United States Marine Corps. In said letter it will contain a formal apology and a recognition that her very rights and freedoms are guaranteed by such members of the armed services, to include the Marine Corps, Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard, past or present, living or dead. Additionally, said letter will be printed in all its form and substance in that day’s edition of the UW Daily newspaper as well as being recited on the UW Radio station. To realize her mistake, she must acquaint herself with the history of the person she is so keen to dismiss, by reading Col. Boyington’s book, Baa, Baa, Black Sheep. All of these requirements are mandatory, under pain of losing her seat on the Student Senate.

“A lesson in democracy, free speech and the burdens of both”, indeed.

Well… I think she should be *censored* then *censored* then *censored* then removed from her post.

Of course, they do have a resolution in support of cake, so they must not be all bad… I’m so glad I went into the Navy instead of college…

    Now THAT is outfuckingstanding!

Although I doubt she’ll learn anything else than to keep her mouth shut instead of insulting the Marines. She seems a rather closed-minded sort of person.

I suppose the lack of insults will have to do. Maybe when she grows up she’ll actually learn why people are so upset.

    Sorry guys, I must disagree.

Forcing anyone, even a moonbat, to publicly apologize is just what the Gestapo ordered.

In a free society, we must never do it this way.

Let the rest of the student Senate simply pass a resolution censuring her, and perhaps force her to appear before the entire body to hear the censure, but even though she was elected by moonbats, to order an apology on pain of booting her out of her elected office is totalitarianism at it’s worst.

Those Marines didn’t make their sacrifices for us to this in their name.

Good God RD, you seem to be forgetting one major difference between what THE ENTIRE PUBLIC OPINION and “what the Gestapo did”….

The Gestapo killed you if you didn’t apologize, and even if you did, they still killed you, they just took you out back so that other wouldn’t have to watch.

Jesus jumped up christ on a pogo stick man, you are back in America, right? You can’t blame that historical misnomer on the ‘Recife’.

In a free society, you let the person make their ignorant statement, in this case about how people shouldn’t look up to and want to be like Marines, and then you say “excuse me, but you’re an ignorant slut“, with as many people as possible until she capitulates.

    It is called shaming someone.

It is the same as putting people in the stocks in the public square or putting a johns face on TV.

Under the Gestapo, you could barely make your statement in the first place, but if you did manage somehow, they would come to your house and kill you in front of your friends.

    Big difference.

My advice: Find some shade, RD. You’re getting massive public opinion expressed via multiple media outlets confused with a government agency with a license to kill entire families.
