Boo-Hoo. Cry and Wail.

The leftists never cease to find something to whine about.

In early preparation for the 2006 elections, pro-illegal immigration people are writing reports about how hard life is for their ‘undocumented worker’ friends.

Immigrants should have fewer hurdles to citizenship and employment and more opportunities to become part of the community, even if they are here illegally, according to a recent report on the experiences of immigrants in the Northwest.

With the nation in a polarized debate about an immigration system that’s “broken,” the voices of those who have come to the United States in search of a better life are seldom heard, said Seattle attorney Carrie Tracy, who wrote the report for the Northwest Federation of Community Organizations.

(snip)

The report recommends that undocumented immigrants in the United States receive work permits and be made eligible for permanent residence and citizenship. It advocates for labor protections and civil rights equal to those afforded U.S. citizens.

(snip)

The document aims to counter legislation in Congress that would slow illegal immigration by building a fence along the U.S.-Mexico border, penalizing employers who hire unlawful immigrants and punishing smugglers, among other provisions.

To these people, it doesn’t matter how you got here or whether you came for good or ill, now that your feet are across the line, you should just be let to roam freely.

“All I want is the right to work and get treated the same as the other workers,” said Daniel, a 25-year-old from Washington quoted in the report.

Then Daniel (who isn’t “from Washington”), you should go to the immigration office and register as an immigrant. Your laziness in not doing so earns you the title of “Criminal” and a one way ticket back home, in my book.

Why is that so difficult? Because the Northwest Federation of Community Organizations says it is.

And who is the NFCO?

The federation represents community-based social and economic justice groups in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

I see that John Iwasaki of the Seattle Times has swallowed the statist fallacy about there being more than one kind of Justice hook, line and sinker.

So the answer to the whole immigration problem is to make it EASIER to get in legally? I think what’s broken about the system is these felons are getting across in the first place. I resent that calling these people what they are, Criminals, is frowned upon, so the PC folks are stuck calling them “Workers” or “Undocumented Migrants”. Heaven forbid there be some stigma attached to people who, for whatever reason, are choosing to break the law!

I feel this issue big time because I live in San Diego about an hour from the border. You best believe the whole culture and economic climate here has been turned upside down by this issue.
